They came in their masses to put their issues on the table and left with a clear conscience.
According to Reremoana Pitau, “We can now return home happy and satisfied with what we had presented and what we got back, thanks to the King's call.”
The working committee was a successful outcome of the hui, which Veronika Edwards is pleased with.
“This working committee does not have all the authority. It's only a group that goes around to each and every kōhanga and takes recommendations."
Now whānau will return back to their regions to relay what was achieved at the hui. Mataatua/Tauranga Moana is feeling a sense of relief that their concerns were heard. The next step is for the working committee to travel across the country, but they believe it's only the beginning.
