Seventh indigenous gathering of Healing Our Spirit Worldwide

The seventh indigenous gathering of "Healing Our Spirit Worldwide" kicked off in Hamilton today.  It's the largest health gathering of its kind in the world and will be held over the next four days.

Graham Mumbulla's health has improved immensely through a Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) dementia prevention programme called "Deadly Elders Do Circus" that teaches them circus moves.

Mumbulla says, “Just more confidence keeps me fit and what eyesight I have got, I keep it active.”

The programme also centres on their social and mental well-being.  1500 delegates from 10 countries have come to exchange their successful health and well-being knowledge under the gatherings theme of Life Force.

Dr Kahu McClintock, says, “Like our ancestors who travelled the Pacific for the continued betterment of our people, this gathering is united with the same vision.”
