South Africa defeat All Blacks Sevens at home

This morning, an inspired South Africa came from 14-nil down against NZ to clinch the Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay South Africa Sevens 17-14 at Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Spurred on, to produce a moving and fitting tribute to the country's late former president, it signals the first time since 2008 that the South Africans have won on home soil.

Tries by Scott Curry and Sherwin Stowers took NZ out to a 14-nil lead before Branco du Preez closed the gap to two points with a double.

Down 14-12 at the break, South Africa scored the only try of the second half and it proved to be the match winner when Kyle Brown crossed over midway through the half.

The dramatic victory leaves South Africa just two points behind the All Blacks Sevens in the overall HSBC Sevens World Series standings after three rounds.
