First game for NZ's U18 women's AFL

NZ's U18 women's AFL team had their first game yesterday in Auckland against Australia. Despite being together for just six weeks, the CEO of AFL NZ, Robert Vanstan, says the team is showing signs of brilliance.

It's a game that's rarely seen here in NZ, let alone with female players, yet the NZ U18 women's team are up against the Australian team. They've only been training for two months and CEO of AFLNZ says it's all about creating opportunities.

And it was quite the turn out NZ was hoping for. Ngāti Kuri descendant Claudia McMeekin didn't know too much about AFL before taking it up.

Australia is aiming to set up a Women's League by 2020, which will open doors for professional female players.
