Footage streamed live on facebook has shown Law enforcement officers allegedly water-blasting, tear-gassing and shooting rubber bullets at protestors north of the Oceti Sakowin camp in Dakota.
Campaign organiser Dallas Goldtooth claims water protectors decided to remove the burned-out vehicles that police put in place on Oct 27th to block access heading north on highway 1806.
“I was just tear gassed and concussion grenades [were] shot at us,” Goldsmith posted on Facebook.
It’s alleged protestors are trapped in the bridge area. There are unverified claims that tear-gassing has resulted in protesters vomiting, water-blasting is causing hypothermia and rubber bullets aren’t only being used on protesters but also media drones capturing the footage.
Protester Joe Whittle wrote on Facebook, “First aid stations are set up to treat hypothermia. Elders had given a request that no more women go to the front line actions for concern that trauma will be passed on to their children.”
Morton County Sheriff’s Department estimated around 400 protestors on the bridge attempted to breach the bridge on highway 1806 and protesters have started a dozen fires near the bridge.
