Stoptober campaign challenges smokers to quit

By Numia Ponika-Rangi

The quit smoking campaign 'Stoptober' was launched around the country this week, and the Action on Smoking and Health group (ASH) and Inspiring Ltd are challenging smokers to quit for the whole month of October.

Come October 1, Stoptober is challenging smokers to quit for a month.

The campaign launched nationally this week encourages everyone to get involved, no matter who or where they are.

This will be the biggest national quit smoking attempt ever, and is one of the initiatives on the pathway towards the goal of being a Smokefree NZ in 2025.

Stoptober will use Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to unite and support people in times of stress, and a free Stoptober app will be downloadable via iTunes in Te Reo Māori and English.
