At the end of August 2016, the Governor General Sir Jerry Mateparae completes his five-year tenure as the Queen’s representative in New Zealand. On the 14th August 2016 he sat down with Native Affairs reporter Ward Kamo at Government House, Wellington, to discuss everything from his time in office, his childhood, the importance of whanau, the British Royal Family, the Pope, the treaty and impact of the inevitability of New Zealand becoming a republic.
