    Edgecumbe is in clean up mode as more residents return home.  The first lot of volunteers gave a helping hand to those cleaning their homes.  The initiative between Ngāti Awa, Regional Councils and local groups had 80 volunteers help out in Edgecumbe today.

    Edgecumbe whānau worried about second storm

    The Bay of Plenty region is forecast to receive up to 250mm of rain in the 48 hours from midday tomorrow. According to MetService, it's predicted that the coastal communities will be hit the hardest. Te Kāea followed two whānau who returned home today.

    Edgecumbe residents remain vigilant with severe weather expected

    The regional council expects the bulk of the rain is going to arrive Thursday and it looks like coastal communities are going to be hit the worst. Severe gales are also predicted along the coast which will likely lead to storm surges and flooding of coastal margins.
