Aunty Kitty of Waihirere Māori Club laid to rest
A stalwart of Waihirere Māori Club during the 60’s – 80’s has been laid to rest by her people of Te Aitanga ā Māhaki today in Gisborne. Her name was Maungarongo Kingi and affectionately known as Aunty ‘Kitty’ by her family and members of Parimānihi Marae.

Waihirere kapa haka matriarch Tangiwai Ria honoured
Tangiwai Ria is recognised nationally for her involvement in kapa haka and is a life member of Te Matatini. She's led the group since 1988 while also leading her iwi of Te Aitanga-a-Mahaki to a better and brighter future.
