The haka group caused a sensation at the "New Zealand Showcase", a pop-up store on the pedestrian Great Tang All Day Mall for exporters to exhibit their products and services for the display and the sale to the public.

First to take the stage this year at Te Kahu o te Amorangi: Te Matatini 2017 is Te Manu Huia who delivered a performance resonating with tributes to their founders and patriarch Ngapo Wehi and matriarch Pimia 'Nen' Wehi.
The Wehi whanau received a haka powhiri by Tāmaki kaihaka at West Auckland's Hoani Waititi Marae today. Ngahiriwa Taitin of Taha Tū says haka performers in Auckland wanted the opportunity to celebrate haka exponent, Dr Ngapo Wehi.
Five teams are set to represent the Tāmaki Makaurau region at the national kapa haka competition next year. Among the five is West Auckland's Te Taha Tū who performed an explosive entry to secure a ticket to Te Matatini.
