Tainui Waka Kapa Haka Regionals 2016 - Te Kāheru Matarau a Hauā

Te Kārehu Matarau a Hauā was established in 2015 and represents Ngāti Hauā and the hapū of Ngāti Te Oro, Ngāti Rangi Tāwhaki, Ngāti Werewere, Te Iti o Hauā, Te Rangitaupi, Ngāti Waenganui.

The group also proudly honours its ties to a number of marae, which include Tauwhare, Raungaiti, Rukumoana, Kai-aa-te-mata, Waimakariri.

This kapa was established to bring together the people of Ngāti Hauā, both young and old to celebrate their unique identity and pride through haka.

The group is tutored by Hoera Kereama , Adam Whauwhau, Ani Rangihau and Tiaho Kīrete, Hoera Kereama also plays another key role as kaitātaki tane alongside Te Wairuaora Takiari who is kaitātaki wahine.

The group has chosen to share their whakawātea, Waiho me titiro, me whakaaro, composed by Tiaho Kīrete and Hoera Kereama which is a challenge to Government to take a second look at everything it's doing and those its actions have impacted.
