Takiura moves to new premises

Te Wānanga Takiura o Ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori has shifted from its premises in Margot Street, Newmarket, to Royal Oak.

There were numerous issues with the Newmarket premises, prompting the search for a more permanent situation.

Spirits are high at this weekly gathering of students and teachers of the Kura Kaupapa Māori Teacher Training school, who have recently shifted from Newmarket to their new premises at Royal Oak, which is where their wānanga began.

In 2009, they moved into the centre of Newmarket for a short term and then moved to Margot Street on the outskirts, but there have been some issues with rent, hence the recent shift and hopefully, a permanent home.

After just a week and a half in their new home, the warmth and spiritual essence of the Māori culture permeates the building, helping students to achieve their goals.
