The tally of medals begins at Pacific Games

New Caledonia was the victorious country at the last Pacific Games and this year they have won some of the first medals of the 15th Pacific Games in the Women's Triathlon.

The White Sox also played their second game of the competition, winning 1-0 against Papua New Guinea.

There was excitement before the football matches kicked off at the Pacific Games.  The gold medalists automatically gain a spot at the 2016 Olympic Games.

For the first time, the All Whites from New Zealand are competing at the Pacific Games.

It was always going to be tough for the New Zealand side, playing the hosts at home in front of a big crowd.

Both teams were close to scoring but couldn't quite get there.  After 60 minutes, New Zealand finally scored.

There were no other goals, New Zealand winning 1-0.

New Caledonia won some of the first medals of the competition, winning gold and bronze in the Women's Triathlon.
