Tāmaki defeat Waikato in Rangatahi League final

The current title holders, Waikato, laid the challenge down to Tāmaki Makaurau and it was Tāmaki who scored the first try in the very first minute of the final.

Waikato replied a minute later, Tautau Kapea scoring on the right wing. Joshua Uta was one player to keep an eye on, crossing the line for his first of three tries.

However the Tāmaki team kept answering, crossing the line another three times to lead 28-4 at the half. Tāmaki started where they left off in the first half, Maccane Marychurch and Joshua Uta maintaining and taking Tāmaki's lead to 36 points.

It was Waikato who came back fighting, scoring three late tries in the final 10 minutes.

In the end, it was too little too late for the 2013 winners, Tāmaki Makaurau winning overall 40-18.
