Tarantino says 'Utu' the best NZ movie of all time

Hollywood filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has labelled the 1983 film Utu as "hands down the best New Zealand movie of all time."

Tarantion told RNZ Afternoons he was a "big fan" of New Zealand cinema, including filmmakers Roger Donaldson and Bruno Lawrence.

The creator of blockbuster films including Kill Bil, Pulp Fiction, and Django Unchained, is in New Zealand promoting his latest film The Hateful Eight.

New Zealand stunt woman Zoe Bell appears in the latest offering as Six-Horse Judy.

Bell was first cast in a Tarantino film as a stunt double to Uma Thurman in Kill Bill.

Quentin Tarantino says he operates at a “very high concentrated level” and believes he will stick to his idea of creating only 10 films.

“It’s all about the films, it’s not about me having a job.

“I’m lucky enough to live the life of an artist in a profession that it’s very hard to do that.”
