Ngāti Rangiwewehi have made a strong bid today to qualify for the Te Matatini Festival being held next year, after missing out at the last regional competition in 2012, despite contesting the official results.
The two-time national winning rōpū are hoping to be one of the six groups to represent Te Arawa next year; their last national win was in 1996 on home soil in Rotorua.
With the support of their two Ngāti Rangiwewehi Pakeke groups, they have impressed the crowd this morning at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre.
