Today Te Hikuwai Pakeke paid homage to the Late Paora Te Rangi, who was instrumental in establishing Te Hikuwai kapa haka.
Since 2010, these pakeke have been coming together to enhance the well-being of Ngāti Pikiao, and have been guided by the leadership of Timi Te Po Hohepa, Tuhi Grapl, Kotiro Wharerahi and Tuari Engelen.
Their formal dress this evening is the same design as that worn by their premier side, all of which represent their roots at Lake Rotoiti.
