Te Haaro o te Kaahu Kapa Haka Kura Tuarua 2016-Te Rōpū Raukura

Te Rōpū Raukura is made up of students from Rotorua Boys and Girls High Schools. The kapa haka team was established under the name Raukura in 1994, representing Te Arawa waka.

The name Raukura is literally translated as feather or special plume and those described as possessors of the raukura were considered to be of a high stature.

The group sought guidance from multiple tutors including Jamus Webster, Laurelle Tamati, Kimiora Webster, Michael Rurehe, Talitha Webster as well as managers Wai Morrison and Fred Whata.

Raukura has chosen to share their whakaeke entitled “Te Hāro o te Kāhu”. The whakaeke, composed by Michael Rurehe and the Webster whānau, pays homage to the hosts of the competition, Ngāti Kahungunu.
