Te Kūiti Police makes arrest following serious assault

Te Kūiti Police have arrested a 20-year-old man after appealing for information from the public following the serious assault of a man on Sunday evening.

They confirm that the man has also been charged with wounding and will appear in the Hamilton District Court on Tuesday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead said, "Thanks to information received from the community our officers made an arrest earlier today."

The 45-year-old victim is now in a stable condition in Waikato Hospital.

During another call-out to a nearby disorder on Sunday after 7pm, Police came across an injured man lying a short distance away on Te Kūiti main street, Rora Street.

Enquiries have established that there was no connection between the two incidents.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we still want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this assault,” said Whitehead.
