Exactly 10 years ago, Te Whānau-a-Apanui won their first kapa haka national title in Rangitāne. Today they return to Te Matatini experienced and ready to impress the masses.
The group is tutored by Te Kou Rikirangi Gage, Hone Wharepapa and Tamati Waaka, and today they are led by Tamati Waaka and Puao Whauwhau.
"Apanui – Stand strong! Hold fast to the traditions, esoteric knowledge, authority and spiritual distinction of Te Whānau-a-Apanui," - this is the purpose of Te Kapa Haka Māori o Te Whānau-a-Apanui.
