Te Papa Kaumātua Kapa Haka Festival to be livestreamed

In light of the Matariki season, Te Papa are commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Māori Contingent landing at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli.

Kaumātua from around Aotearoa will be taking the stage, performing tribal waiata ā-ringa and haka, namely those composed during the First World War.

The Kaumātua Kapa Haka festival will be streamed live on the Māori Television website on Saturday July 4 and Sunday July 5.

Eleven teams will take the stage over 2 days. Each day will be split in to 2 segments and will run from 10:20am to 4:20pm with a midday break.

Māori Television will broadcast the performances on August 3 on a 6 episode show called He Kura Tangata 2015.
