Te Puni Kōkiri employees await their fate following restructure announcement

Te Puni Kōkiri employees are still waiting to see what the future holds for them following restructure announcements.

Employees from around the country met in Wellington today where their CEO told them of their fate.

A one page letter was released sealing the future of Te Puni Kokiri, though no reprieve for employees wanting to know what the future holds for them.

Changes announced today will see a different approach in the regions, whether or not that means job losses remains to be seen.

Te Kaea spoke to one person from the Waihopai office who said the closure would be a real shame given the Māori population in their area, however she did accept that with any restructure, some heads would have to roll.

CEO Michelle Hippolite says Māori shouldn't worry, and that at the end of the day their most important goal is to deliver better outcomes for Māori.

In six week’s time Te Puni Kokiri employees will find out their fate, but until then many remain anxious as they wonder what the future may hold for them.
