Te Puni Kokiri given new direction

Today, the Minister of Māori Affairs, Dr Pita Sharples, released the new direction of Te Puni Kōkiri (TPK), following a review of the government department which took place last year.

According to Te Kāea Political editor, Maiki Sherman, this was the result of the relationship accord between the Māori Party and National. She says, one of the main findings was the heavy and vast workload being undertaken by Te Puni Kokiri, which has led to a new direction of refining its focus, essentially getting back to its core roles. However there's some question around the cost of this report - around the $100,000 mark. The Minister says despite the figure, the results will be evident.
