Te Rua Wallace shines at Miss World NZ pageant

Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Ātihaunui a Paparangi and Te Arawa supermodel, Te Rua Wallace finished second runners up in the Miss World New Zealand pageant.

Otago Medical Student, Deborah Lambie beat 18 other contestants to win the coveted award.

The Toastmaster World Champion Kingi Biddle helped train 18-year-old Te Rua Wallace prior to her debut appearance.

“He trained me how to speak properly in front of people and how I should answer the questions,” says Wallace.

The crown was judged over the three months, and included a sports day, speeches, interviews, and a talent event.

World NZ, also includes 'Beauty with a Purpose', where contestants volunteer and fundraise for a chosen charity.

Te Rua Wallace is currently studying fashion at Waiariki Institute of Technology and hopes one day to open her own boutique.
