Hātea Manawanui is made up of community members who support the kaupapa of kapa haka; ngā mahi a Rehia a Tanerore, and are the fourth group to take the stage at this year’s Tai Tokerau regionals.
Practises this year have been implemented at Pehiaweri Marae wananga in Whangarei and are called “Waiata Joy”. Waiata Joy is in its 11th year and continues to attract people of all ages, nationalities and abilities.
This year the group is led by Nathan and Pania Kake and the item on show today is their Waiata-a-ringa titled “Parihaka Te Maunga.”
