Te Wharekura o Rākaumangamanga celebrate 20 years of kapa haka

They were the first team to win a kapa haka secondary nationals, this year they were reigned national champs again, and today Te Wharekura o Rākaumangamanga celebrate 20 years of kapa haka.

It was a time to reflect on all things "haka" by celebrating with past and present students.

As all the students and families of Rākaumanga settle back into school life having spent the week at the Kings Coronation, they also celebrate 20 years of striving for excellence in Māori Performing Arts

The high school students returned home recently from the Secondary School competitions in Gisborne with the top prize

However todays celebrations were about all those who have participated over the years since their Kapa Haka group started, from former students to the young ones of today.

However at the end of the day, the school prides itself on the underpinning values of the community as a whole, united through the Kīngitanga.
