Te Whirinaki a te Kingi delivers Koroneihana speech

Te Whirinaki a te Kingi, Whatumoana Paki has delivered the annual Koroneihana speech on his father's behalf.

Due to illness and time needed to recuperate, King Tūheitia assigned some of his duties to his eldest son Whatumoana.

Te Whirinaki a te Kingi spoke of his family and wider iwi support for his father throughout his illness.

He outlined that empowering rangatahi and improving achievement and support for rangatahi Māori was a high priority not only for himself but for King Tūheitia as well.

He also encouraged current iwi leaders to unite with those up and coming rangatahi showing leadership skills as a means of fostering and nurturing them into roles that will advance their iwi in the future.
