In a joint initiative between Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated (NKII) and Hawke's Bay Today, a Māori voice will now accompany local and regional news in the Hawke's Bay region, covering Napier, Hastings, Dannevirke and Havelock North.
Tihei Kahungunu is a new Māori publication that will be inserted once a month starting in June.

Te Matau-ā-māui-based Te Kāea reporter Aroha Treacher and Hawke's Bay Today editor, Andrew Austin, will co-edit the 8-page bilingual publication, with the first edition coming out on June 8.
Iwi representatives Adele Whyte, CEO of Kahungunu, Hamahona Ambler and Jeremy Tātere MacLeod will contribute articles for the paper.
Māori political viewpoints and community perspectives will feature alongside articles to promote the Māori language.
