Trina Tamati nominated for Māori Sport Administrator award

She is business-minded with economic, accounting and organisational skills.  Trina Tamati (Ngāti Kahungunu) is one of three nominees in the Māui Tikitiki a Taranga - Māori Sports Administrator of the Year Award in the annual Māori Sports Awards.

Trina Tamati is General Manager for the NRL Auckland Nines, which delivered a healthy $9.35 million.

Ms Tamati has played a key role in many million dollar organisations.

“You start with a company like that, you’re probably setting yourself up to either hit a bit of disappointment there on after or to go and do great things,” says Ms Tamati.

She says the foundation to her success began with Nike twenty years ago.

A nominee for the Māori Sports administrator of the Year award alongside Heather Skipworth (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāi Tahu) for Ironmāori and Willie Taurima from Wellington for basketball.

Tamati's craft was learnt abroad, she has mixed it with the best of the best.

Jim Doyle has had a hand in her development, he is the incoming Chief Executive Officer of the Warriors.

She also admits that although she has done well in her career so far she still has many more goals to accomplish.
