Green Party co-leader Metirira Turei made history today at Rātana Pā by becoming the first female Green MP to speak on the marae.
She was guided on by officers of the church before announcing her plans for a radical new housing policy. Only a few women have ever spoken during the formal welcome of political parties like the late Whetu Tirikatene Sullivan and Helen Clark.
