Victory keeps NZ Breakers in ANBL comp

Heading into the game, the Breakers knew it was do or die, needing five wins from their final five remaining games.

The Crocs were the team who started stronger though, driving to the basket and grabbing an early lead into the first break.

While the visitors looked in good form, Tom Abercrombie kept the Breakers in the contest with his little bit of magic, but the Breakers still trailed by five at half-time.

The experience of CJ Bruton in his final year at the club also helped the Breakers last night.

He also became the second player in the club to bring up 2000 points for the Breakers.

In the final quarter, a 13-3 run arrived at the perfect time and a triple from Abercrombie handed his side their first lead since the opening quarter.

The Breakers hung on to take the 102-99 win and keep their play-off hopes alive.

The Breakers will be seriously tested in Cairns tomorrow but a triumph there would set up a tantalising prospect of three games at home to get into the finals series.
