The third of a series of Native Affairs Kōwhiri 2014 Māori Electorate debates will be screened on Māori Television tonight 8:30pm.
Waiariki candidates Te Ururoa Flavell of the Māori Party, Mana's Annette Sykes and Rawiri Waititi standing in the electorate for Labour, will join Native Affairs host, Miningarangi Forbes live in the studio.
As well as hitting the candidates with the hard questions, the results of specially commissioned polls conducted in each of the 7 Māori seats will be revealed, with the preferred candidate result of each electorate broadcasting at 5:30pm on Te Kāea.
Native Affairs will then delve deeper into that and more results of the poll which will highlight the major issues and asks voters which parties and policies, if any, stand out for them.
Along with the poll results, the Native Affair's team has traveled the length and breadth of the Māori electorates to find out what’s on people’s minds. The stories will screen during each of the debates and candidates will be invited to respond to the issues raised by the grass roots voters featured.
Waiariki candidates will face off in the third 1 hour special on tonight and all the debates will be simulcast on Māori Television and www.maoritelevision.com.
On Election night the Kōwhiri 2014 team will also provide in depth coverage live from the Māori electorates in a 5 hour election special. The broadcast and website will also provide real time updates and results as the votes are counted in each electorate and in-depth information and unique stories throughout the night.
It will be followed by a Review special at 9 am on Sunday the 21st of September where our team will speak with the successful candidates from each electorate and discuss what’s next.
