The descendant from Ngāpuhi placed top 10 at the Super Aito race in Tahiti, this race is known to be one of the biggest V1 races in the world.

Tupu says, “ It was an amazing experience to make the top 10 in the Super Aito this year.  It was a dream come true, I've always wanted to stand on the podium with the likes of Kevin, the champions from Tahiti.

It wasn't in the plan, I was kind of hoping next year I would make the top 10 but the dream came early this year."

The news just gets better for King, as he was recently asked to join Paddling Connection to race at the Katalina Race in Los Angeles.

Paddling Connection is well known and is one of the best teams in the word.  One of their biggest achievements was winning one of the biggest waka ama races in the world, the Hawaiki Nui Va'a in 2013.
