Waka Ama Nationals

The Midget boys had a nervous wait ahead of their 250 metre final this morning. Te Mata o Te Enua opened the finals today and were the fastest qualifiers, they managed to maintain their title as champs and take home their third gold medal.

The Midget girls followed and Bubbalicious from Māreikura achieved their goal of winning another gold medal. In the Intermediate finals saw the strength of Whakatangi from Rāhui Pōkeka from the beginning of the race, they retained their lead to take gold.

In the Intermediate Girls Final it was Rangitopeora from Toa Waka Ama who excelled and left the rest of the pack in their wake.

The last finals were at the J16 sections and the young men were the first and while it was a very close race Marumaru from Te Toki managed to take the win.

In the final race of the day Māreikura, Hinehakirirangi and Hinekapuarangi led the way with Hinekapuarangi coming out on top.
