Webbers to make history in Dubai at IRB World Series tournaments

Gordon Tietjens has selected a good balance of experience and youth for the Sevens squad heading to Dubai and Port Elizabeth tournaments for the IRB World Series.

For the first time a set of siblings, Joe Webber and his sister Jordan Webber will play in Dubai together, after both of them were named in their respective teams this week, something their mum Haylee couldn't be more proud of.

Haylee knows Joe and Jordan's attitude has allowed both of them to achieve highly in sport.

“Jordy and Joseph are focused individuals and they're good at goal setting and they knew exactly what they wanted to do and how to achieve it," Haylee Webber explains.

That family trait will see the Webber siblings create history in Dubai at the IRB World Series tournament after both being named in the New Zealand Sevens teams.

While older sister Jordan normally takes the lead off the field, it's Joe who has helped his older sister out in the sevens game.

Joe first played for the All Blacks Sevens team in 2011 and represented the Māori All Blacks this month in Japan while Jordan made her debut for the Women’s Sevens team earlier this year, achievements their mother will never forget.

“If they want something they know there's a lot of work involved; they never take it for granted.  Always remain down to earth and humble," says Haylee Webber.

Joe and Jordan will be giving their whānau more memorable moments in the future starting in Dubai next week.
