Well deserved opening for Horouta Marae

Horouta Marae has been a second home for elder Himiona Kururangi, aka JK, who has lived in Wellington for 55 years.

With the opening of the ancestral house early this morning, it's all hands on deck.

According to Wayne Quinn, “We’re catering for over 4000 people in the weekend so yeah it’s all go, its all go.” And lucky for them there's enough food to feed an army.

Since the early 90's it's been a meeting place for descendants of Horouta waka in Wellington.

The dreams of those passed on were fulfilled, and finally get to see the hard work has paid off.
