Wellington to host inaugural Jiu Jitsu fight night

Wellington is to host to the first ever Artaxias Jiu Jitsu Fight Night held in New Zealand.

30 of NZ's best BJJ exponents will gather to showcase the technical skills and intricacies of Jiu Jitsu.

A high number of fighters are of Māori heritage and some of Māoridom's finest BJJ fighters will come together in the capital on March 14.

One of the event's main organisers, Anaru Para says, "It's a sport that's right up our alley."

It's an invitation-only event and the only way to win the fight is to win by submission.

Co-organiser Gabrielle Para says to expect to see some high-level grappling skills.

She is excited about the event and believes, "It is a great opportunity for New Zealand as Brazillian Jiu Jitsu is an awesome sport and is very much whānau-orientated."

Tickets are still available for the event at Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua.  Click here to find out more.
