Wellington to host Miromoda Design Fashion Competition

The Miromoda Design Fashion Competition will take place in Wellington this year.

The Porirua City Council is excited to be hosting the show with its partners; Miromoda, The Indigenous Māori Fashion Apparel Board (IMFAB), Porirua Chamber of Commerce, and Pataka.

Māori designers will be vying for a spot in the Miromoda Showcase at the New Zealand Fashion Week.

Miromoda, an indigenous fashion board founded by Ata Te Kanawa, has fostered and promoted indigenous fashion designers for the last 8 years at New Zealand Fashion Week.

There are three categories in the competition; Established, Emerging and Avant Garde.

To be considered for the Miromoda competition, all entrants must identify as Māori, showcase commercial potential, be innovative and have a long term plan.

The Miromoda competition opens up the chance for fashion designers to tap into the incredible experience of business and industry leaders on a one-on-one basis through the judging panel.

On 25 June the competition will be held at Pataka from 8am until 4pm and shortlisted designers will be judged by an experienced panel of media, and buying experts.
