Wellington rugby and league stars box for Cure Kids

A big night of boxing is expected tomorrow as local Wellington rugby and league stars battle it out for their codes.

Pro-boxer Asher Derbyshire has organised 17 fights which he will headline himself, in a special fundraiser for Cure Kids.

Inspired into the ring by his father, Asher Derbyshire is packing a punch amongst cruiserweights throughout the country.

With 6 wins and 1 loss on his professional record, the Tūwharetoa descendant is making a name for himself amongst boxing circles.

Taking on Scott Taliuli tomorrow night in a pro fight, it's these amateur fighters that have been the talk of the town.

Lance 'The Hitman' King, representing Norths Prezzies, says they've been giving their all over the last 10 weeks of training.

Asher says both rugby and league sides are looking good, and the competition will be fierce.

Doors open at 6pm tomorrow night at the Kilbirnie Indian Centre in Wellington.
