Whaitiri to make debut in Parliament this week

Labour's Meka Whaitiri is the newly-elected MP for Te Ikaroa-Rāwhiti and she'll make her debut in Parliament this coming week.

Voting results from yesterday's by-election show Meka Whaitiri had a total of 4368 votes, followed by Mana's Te Hāmua Nikora with 2607 votes.

Na Raihania of the Māori Party wasn't too far behind, closely followed by Marama Davidson of the Greens.

Our political reporter, Maiki Sherman, was at Manutuke Marae chasing the story with Meka Whaitiri and the Labour Party.  Here's her report.
