Whakatāne lad moves beyond ordinary online selfie

A lad from Whakatāne is gaining online attention by sharing photos and videos of his expeditions around the country and the world.  Te Kāea caught up with him to see what sets his pictures apart from the ordinary online selfie.

Ben Marr has been taking photos and videos with no real expectation only to share his experiences with family and friends online.  But the fun hobby has now grown into something more.

Last week, Ben uploaded a video to his Facebook page, highlighting significant places of his hometown Whakatāne and in less than a week it had been viewed more than 50,000 times and shared by 1500 people.

At 29 years of age he's already travelled to many places.  Having recently moved back to New Zealand from Australia he now has a greater appreciation for his homeland.

The hobby has cost him around $2000 but he says the investment is priceless.

Where to for Ben Marr now?  Check out his Facebook page for his updates.
