Whānau Tahi finalists in New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards

Waipareira Trust's software company Whānau Tahi Ltd has been named as finalists in this year's New Zealand Hi-Tech awards, which recognises the country's most successful high-tech companies and individuals.

Whānau Tahi Chief Executive Stephen Keung says they are overwhelmed and honoured for the recognition of their work in Māoridom, “I think rubbing shoulders with all the other finalists is just an honour for us to be with them and also recognition of all of those we’re associated with, our clients and customers who are using our system.”

Whanau Tahi are finalists in the Callaghan Innovation Māori award category. The company's Whānau Tahi Navigator software is used to share information between social service and health providers to benefit whānau.

Other Māori finalists are Code Avengers, Kiwa Digital, Origins Software, Precision Seafood Harvesting and Straker Translations.

The Hi-Tech Trust have been running the awards for 22 years.

The Chairman of Hi-Tech Trust Wayne Norrie says the standard of the overall entries is the highest they've seen, “This year’s finalists span the full spectrum of the hi-tech sector and it’s great to see so many areas of the country represented. It’s also exciting to see the strong interest in the new Callaghan Innovation Maori Innovation category. The fact that this new category received a record number of entries is very pleasing. It clearly demonstrates that our entire industry is in great shape for the future."

Winners will be announced at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre, Auckland on 20th May 2016.
