Whanganui High School hold onto touch national title

Whanganui High School have clinched the mixed grade title again at this year's Secondary School Touch National Championships held over the weekend in Auckland.  Whanganui gave an outstanding performance with a four-point win over Paeroa College.

Whanganui secured the first two tries to get a head start.

It took Paeroa a number of attempts to find the line, but eventually Deija Gray found Paeroa's first opportunity to score.

But another try by Whanganui kept them two steps ahead.

Paeroa managed another two tries before halftime, putting the score at 4-3.

Both teams came back in full force. Paeroa eventually coming through to equalise, 5-5 at the 25th minute.

But a try to Whanganui at 30th minute saw the Champs catapult straight to the top, followed with three more unanswered tries.

Final score: 9-5 to Whanganui.
