Whanganui welcomes Prince Harry

Prince Harry has been welcomed onto Pūtiki Marae and also onto the Whanganui River.

The marae was filled with locals, and the Prince received a special paddle, to help him perhaps in his quest to find a wife.

He was a special guest upon the sacred river. But it looks as though Prince Harry has fit right in in Whanganui.

Prince Harry spoke in Māori on the marae saying, “Ruapehu Mountain. Whanganui River, Whanganui people, Te Paku o te Rangi the ancestoral house, greetings to you all.”

Everyone on the marae were aiming to catch a glimpse of Harry and some kids were lucky enough to get up close and personal.

With so many beautiful women here, some even questioned whether Harry could find a wife amongst the locals.

Tamahou Rowe says, “Doubt it, Whanganui will keep to its own. I said to them, hey don't kiss the Prince, you must uphold our tikanga. Visitors to their own, locals to their own, however through the greeting process we will see.”

If not, then he will certainly take with him a fondness for the place.
