The White Sox captain, Lara Andrews, is the first New Zealander to play professional softball in America.
While studying for her PhD in Human Development in Science at the University of Delaware in America, she’s been running coaching clinics for children all around New Zealand.
Andrews says, “Softball it's not just a game. It can also create a life for you as well.”
The White Sox captain is back in Auckland running the clinics for kids who want to take their softball to the next level.
“It’s a heart-warming sensation seeing the kids enjoy this sport,” says Andrews (Ngāti Ruanui).
She has a major passion for supporting up-and-coming talent and this is evident in what she chooses to undertake while studying towards her PhD.
“What I'm studying which actually correlates with what I'm doing is how do parents support their children in sports.”
