Young Bunce following in father's footsteps

There are six new faces in the All Blacks Sevens training squad at Maunganui this week. The team traveling to Dubai won't be named until tomorrow but Te Kāea caught up with one of those newbies.

If Jordan Bunce looks familiar, you may be thinking of his father All Blacks legend Frank Bunce.

Coach Gordon Tietjans thinks Jordan has a lot of potential.  He's fast, knows the game well and like his dad, is a very talented defender.  However at just 20 years old, he's only just starting out his career.

Jordan played for the Manawatū development team this year, but all his focus is on the black Sevens jersey.

The top four teams in the World Series this season will automatically qualify for the Rio Olympics, but Jordan won't know until tomorrow whether he'll be included in the team heading to the Dubai and Port Elizabeth tournaments.

With his foot in the door, Jordan's pursuit of the black jersey looks strong.
